Recommendations for All Students Taking Biology Classes:
-
Students who would not qualify for English Comp I, should not take any biology classes until they have successfully completed reading programs and/or have raised their ASSETT scores to qualify for English Comp I. The reason we make this recommendation is due to the following requirements in each of the biology courses:
-
Students are required to read over 1000 pages in one semester at a college reading level.
-
Students are also required to write a research paper and or review journal articles written at a college level.
-
If students are not able to read at a college level and/or write a complete paragraph using correct grammar, they should not take any biology classes until they have those skills.
- It is recommended that students have had a strong background in Chemistry and Biology at the High School level (or Basic Chemistry and General Biology at the college level) before taking Majors Biology, Microbiology, or Anatomy and Physiology..
