Yellow Room II

Yellow room II provides care for children ranging in age from 3 to 5 years of age. We provide a healthy, safe and nurturing environment that encourages young children’s natural growth and development. We strive to foster each child’s individual needs through social, emotional, language, cognitive and motor development.

We believe that children learn through play. Child –centered activities are available for a long period of the day. A literacy program is done daily which focuses on a wide variety of the learning areas of literacy: oral language, phonological awareness, letter recognition, and print awareness. Many learning concepts such as sorting, patterning, rhyming, and counting, are explored. The literacy program also allows the children to understand letters, numbers, syllables, opposites, and colors.

Weekly lesson plans are posted with the activities that will be provided for the children to explore. Many of the ideas on the lesson plans come from the children’s interest, which encompass the following areas: early mathematics, science, early literacy, language development, social studies, music and movement, creative expression, social and emotional development, heath and safety, and physical development.

The children are able to explore several fieldtrips throughout the year. We believe that the children’s learning takes place not only in the classroom, but outside the classroom as well. Yellow II provides an enriched environment both inside and outside the classroom to provide the most learning experiences possible for your child.

Name: Holly Baines Position: Lead Preschool Teacher Education: Associates Degree Bachelors Degree in Individualized Studies Experience: I have worked at EduCare Center since May of 2007 and have been the lead teacher of Yellow II since August of 2007. Prior to this, I was a student teacher in Emporia at the Child Development Centers. Personal Information: I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I have a Chihuahua puppy that takes a lot of my time. I also enjoy spending time with my nephew and playing sports.

Name: Kathleen Bertha Position: Assistant Preschool Teacher Education: Associates in Early Childhood Education Experience: I have worked at EduCare since the Fall of 2004 as student for two years. In May of 2006, I became the assistant teacher Yellow II. Personal Information: I grew up in Cheney, KS with my mother, father, three sisters, and two brothers. I recently graduated with an Associates of Arts in Early Childhood Education. In September of 2007, I married Kevin.
