Adult Education/GED Office Manager/Chief GED Examiner

DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS:
The AE/GED (Adult Education/General Educational Development) Office Manager/Chief GED Examiner coordinates the AE/GED office and administers Butlers GED testing program. This department administers AE/GED offerings at El Dorado and FastTrack sites (currently Andover, Augusta, Burns, Cottonwood Falls, Council Grove, Marion, Wichita Workforce Center, and Rose Hill) and serves approximately 200 students. The office is the primary contact for all individuals, student, community, and faculty, associated with these programs. This position is responsible for ensuring Butler is in compliance with GED Testing Service and Kansas GED regulations and the examination of AE/GED students. Program standards require the employee to actively participate in professional development activities that require overnight stays for Kansas Board of Regents (KBOR) adult education and GED trainings and Kansas Adult Education Association (KAEA) credentialing. Required Knowledge and Skills include: knowledge and skills in budgeting, accounting and record keeping; excellent human relations and communication skills; the ability to take direction in the servant leadership model; computer skills; office management skills; once certified, must maintain CASAS and PABLO certification through KBOR; and possess self-direction and a proactive attitude. Required Experience includes: a minimum of three years’ of secretarial experience; at least one year experience operating a computer; and experience in teaching, training, counseling or testing. Prefer experience with data entry of proprietary data bases and prior community college experience. Required Educational Background: a Bachelor’s degree from a nationally accredited college or university. Current Kansas Adult Education Association Credential is preferred. The full-time Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining favorable environmental conditions in the college’s building facilities. Performs preventive and regular maintenance and repair on all college HVAC systems. Responsible to install, maintain, and repair refrigeration, air conditioning, heating, and air handling equipment; install and maintain pneumatic, electric, electronic, and cybertronic controls; operate energy management control system; weld, braze and solder; and cut, thread and install all types of piping. Also performs some electrical and plumbing duties and assists other Facilities Management departments as needed. Must have the ability to do trade related mathematics, make diagnostic decisions, read and update electrical and control diagrams, balance air flow and set variable volume boxes. Must show pride in craftsmanship, communicate effectively, and be able to safely direct assigned helpers. Must keep up to date on E.P.A. regulations and practices, be CFC certified type U Universal or able to obtain within 6 months of employment, and possess a valid Kansas Driver’s License. The Maintenance Technician must be willing to work various shifts, be able to work at various heights, be able to climb, stoop, bend, and work in awkward positions, work indoors and outdoors, and have the ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. High school diploma or equivalent required as well as documented job-related training. Licensed journeyman with four years experience preferred. The Director of Public Safety shall be responsible to the Vice-President of Student Services for providing twenty-four hour security at the Butler of El Dorado campus and coordinating the security needs of other Butler Community College locations. In this role, the Director of Public Safety/Chief of Campus Police will be responsible for supervising all security personnel maintaining all reports required by the Department of Education as required by the Campus Security Act and the Student-Right-To-Know, attend required State Certified training, and to provide training for Public Safety staff, College personnel, and students in accordance with the Crisis-Management Plan. Required Knowledge and Skills include: excellent communication skills; maintaining certification as a Kansas Law Enforcement Officer (LEO); knowledge of investigative procedures and security operations; must be certified in CPR and first aid; must possess a valid Kansas driver’s license; and must possess, or have the ability to learn, computer skills to send and receive e-mail and prepare documents using word processing and spreadsheets. Required Experience includes: Supervisory experience; two years of law enforcement experience; and police academy or equivalent law enforcement training. Required Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree required. Special Characteristics: the ability to establish and maintain a positive working relationship with students, college personnel and community stakeholders; willingness to work irregular hours and adapt to unscheduled activities; the position requires frequent vigorous physical activity and the ability to perform a continuous eight hour walking shift of the campus including climbing steps and ramps; the minimum age requirement is twenty one (21) years of age. Associate’s degree in child development or its equivalent preferred. Must have a minimum of 6 hours in child growth and development or education related classes. and possess certificate (or obtain within 30 days) of First Aid training and Adult, Child and Infant CPR, Child Abuse and Neglect with Head Trauma, Basic Child Development and Safe Sleep Practices.. Must be willing to be “on-call� to fill in for absent teachers. The applicant may be requested to authorize the College to procure a consumer report(s) for employment purposes.

SALARY:
Hourly rate of pay: $9.93.

Adjunct Nursing Instructor: Clinical Learning Lab

Part-time

 

DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS:

Under the direction of the Clinical Learning Lab Facilitator, the Adjunct Clinical Nursing Instructor will assist in the Clinical Learning Lab/Simulation Center. The position is responsible for instruction of nursing students in the Clinical Learning Lab, which includes assisting with skills development, assessment, and competency testing. BSN required; MSN preferred. Medical/Surgical nursing experience required. The applicant may be requested to authorize the College to procure a consumer report(s) for employment purposes. 

SALARY: $579.00 per credit hour taught.
