Mathematics Instructor

Full-time/ 9-month contract

DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS:

The full-time Mathematics Instructor for Butler Community College will be responsible to teach Mathematics courses. Prospective candidates must be skilled in a variety of instructional techniques and technologies with a demonstrated commitment to student engagement and learning outcomes assessment. Instructor may teach evenings and at multiple sites. Teaching experience and a Master’s degree required. SALARY: Commensurate with education and experience. Range from $36,016 - $48,416. Full fringe benefits.

Associate Dean, Behavioral Science, Math, Science and Physical Education

Full-time

DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS:

The full-time Associate Dean is responsible for working with the Dean of Behavioral Science, Math, Science and Physical Education in the development, implementation, and supervision of curriculum and instruction within the division. The Associate Dean will assist the Dean in the supervision of full-time and part-time faculty, instructional support staff, and other personnel as assigned within the division. The Associate Dean works under the supervision of the Dean of Behavioral Science, Math, Science, and Physical Education. Disciplines assigned to this division include: Math, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Behavioral Science, Administration of Justice, Health and Physical Education. Required knowledge and skills include: the ability to interact professionally and effectively with faculty, administration, staff, students and community; the ability to use independent judgment; excellent organizational and time management skills as well as excellent oral and written communication skills; general knowledge of budgeting and purchasing procedures and basic word processing, spreadsheet and database management computer skills. Required experience includes successful teaching/training experience in a discipline within the division (community college experience preferred) and demonstrated success in an organizational leadership role (administrative/ management experience preferred). A Master’s degree is required, with a Bachelor’s degree from an academic discipline assigned to the division also required. SALARY: Commensurate with education and experience, with range from 42,011 - $63,017. Full fringe benefits.

Academic Advisor

Part time / 30 hours per week

 

DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS:

The part-time Academic Advisor is responsible for providing academic advising and career planning services to present and potential students. Will be responsible to advise students with regard to degree requirements and transfer programs to other institutions. Will also advise students with career and occupational planning. Will administer and interpret ASSET placement exams. Must have strong interpersonal communication skills, organizational skills and have the ability to keep track of detailed information. Must have knowledge of needs of adult learners. Must have computer skills and the ability to work in a team environment. Bachelor’s degree required. Previous experience in advising, teaching or related area preferred. Prefer background in student services or related field. Secretary, Academic Achievement Center

Part time/ 20 hours per week/8:00 a.m. to noon

 

DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS:

The Secretary for the Academic Achievement Center is responsible for secretarial duties for the Center, for maintaining statistical information about AAC which is needed for various reports used by state auditors, and for providing support to College staff, instructors and administrators. Must possess excellent written and oral communications skills, the ability to work without supervision and maintain confidentiality, good judgment and decision making skills, and be familiar with Microsoft Office, along with the ability to learn and teach software applications used by the College. Must be able to keyboard a minimum of 40 words per minute. Must also be dependable, cooperative, flexible and able to lift and carry a minimum of 25 pounds and to bend, reach, or stoop to access low and high storage cabinets and file drawers. High school diploma or equivalent required, as well as knowledge of operation of computer hardware and software. Associate’s degree and secretarial experience in the educational field preferred. Cook, Educare Center

Part-time/ 35 hours per week/8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

 

DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS:

The part-time Educare Center Cook will be responsible for planning and preparing different meals and snacks for the children in a safe and clean manner. He/she will also be responsible for order supplies and for maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and sanitation in food preparation and food storage.

Required knowledge and skills include: increasing understanding of child growth and development; ability to role-model for children, volunteers, and parents; comfortableness in interacting and caring for children.; ability to maintain a safe, clean, appropriate environment for children and staff; general knowledge of nutrition, health and first-aid; willingness to accept supervision; special ability to maintain positive relationships with children, co-workers, and parents; and willingness to read, to learn, and to increase understanding of child development through workshops and study.

Additional requirements include: good health as confirmed by physician within the past year prior to the first day of employment. Health assessments are required to be updated every two years; tuberculosis free; annual KBI clearance; occasional lifting and carrying of up to 100 pounds; frequent stooping and bending; frequent walking and standing; adhere to NAEYC accreditation standards; and possess certificate of First Aid training and Adult, Child and Infant CPR.

High school diploma or equivalent required; prior experience cooking for young children preferred.  The applicant may be requested to authorize the College to procure a consumer report(s) for employment purposes.

Teacher Aide

Part-time/25 hours per week/8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS:

Responsibilities of the part-time Teacher Aide will include the care, safety and well-being of all children in the group. Will also assist with carrying out activities. Will help children learn to adapt to and cope with real life situations and assist in keeping the environment organized, safe, clean and pleasant. Must have a general knowledge of nutrition, health and first aid; the ability to be a role model for young children and to apply understating of developmental levels to activities; have a willingness to increase understanding of child development; and be comfortable in interacting with and caring for children. Must also have the ability to adapt to new situations and new children and be willing to accept supervision. Prior experience working with a variety of ages of young children required. Associate’s degree in child development or its equivalent (30 credit hours in early childhood classes) preferred. Must have a minimum of 6 hours in Early Childhood Development or preschool/school age growth and development. Must have good health as confirmed by a physician, possess certificate of First Aid training and adult, child and infant CPR, be tuberculosis free and have KBI clearance.
