PS100 Online Lab Materials 2010

Here are the materials needed for the lab portion of
PS100, General Physical Science online at Butler Community College.

This list is subject to minor modifications during the semester

You may already have many of these items in your household. They are common household items that can be picked up at grocery, hardware, or discount stores in your area. Most have a long shelf life and leftover material can be used for every day household cleaning and cooking.

Kitchen supplies

• Table salt
• Sugar
• White vinegar
• Red cabbage (beet juice can substitute)
• Quick rising yeast
• Baking soda
• Aluminum foil
• Alum

Household cleaning supplies

• Rubbing alcohol
• Muriatic acid (LimeAway with HYDROCHLORIC acid - do not get the Limeaway with CITRIC acid)
• Lye (i.e., Red Devil drain cleaner)
• Distilled water
• Epsom salts
• Hydrogen peroxide
• Washing soda
• Ammonia solution (i.e., Mr. Clean)
• Steel wool
