COURSE OUTLINE
HONORS SEMINAR III

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

HR102. Honors Seminar III. 1 hour credit. Prerequisite: HR101. All seminars will have different content. The purpose of the seminar is to focus on topics of an interdisciplinary nature and to stimulate critical thinking.

TEXTBOOK:

The textbook required will vary with the nature of the project.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

At the completion of the course, the student will be able to:

1. Demonstrate critical thinking and communicative skills regarding ideas covered during the seminar.

2. Present and defend his/her ideas about topics or issues related to the topic of the seminar.

TOPICAL OUTLINE OF UNITS:

The topics covered will vary with each seminar.

METHODS OF INSTRUCTION:

Discussion, guest lecture, and field trips. The extent each of these methods are used will vary with each seminar.

METHODS OF EVALUATION:

Students will submit papers or special projects related to the seminar and will be graded by the instructor. The specifics of grading will vary with the nature of the seminar.

ADDENDUM:

The number hours credit will be commensurate with the work expected in a similar credit hour course. For example, for one credit hour a student will be expected to spend as much time as would be required in a course with 16 contact hours of class time.
