Philosophy
Many students take courses in religion for individual development and the growth of human and personal understanding. Other students engage in the formal study of religion to deepen and clarify their faith. Through the courses it offers, the Religion Department enables students to analyze and critique the major living religions of the world through a study of their origins, historical development, principal tenets and practices. Students are introduced to the sacred writings of these religions and the relationship of these religions to the social and geographical environments from which they emerged.
