Butler's Agriculture Program is designed to meet the needs of any student interested in a career in agriculture or any related field. Each year we have students enter the program who are interested in pursuing a four-year agriculture degree upon completion of their coursework at Butler. Additionally, we serve many students wishing to receive the necessary educational background to return to production agriculture. With both students in mind we have developed a diverse program with course and majors designed to meet everyone's needs. In a two year cycle we offer over 40 agriculture courses to our students. This amazing number of course offerings gives our students a variety of options challenging to find at the community college level.
For potential transfer students, your four-year major will dictate which degree you should seek at Butler. Many of our students interested in Agricultural Economics or business choose the Agribusiness degree offering. Butler also offers a General Agriculture degree for those students interested in areas such as Animal Science, Food Science, Agronomy, Ag Education and Ag Communications just to name a few. Traditionally our students have had phenomenal success transferring to four-year institutions nationwide. We work closely with our students so they can meet their degree requirements here at Butler and are prepared to excel at the four-year institution of their choice.
For those students wishing to return to a family operation or enter directly into production agriculture we also offer two-year degrees in Livestock Management and Farm & Ranch Management along with a one-year Agriculture Certificate program. In addition to classroom learning a great deal of emphasis is placed on outside the classroom, hands-on learning experiences in each of these degree options.
Finally, Pre-Veterinary Medicine is a popular choice for many students. Butler offers a tremendous science curriculum to compliment the animal science related coursework necessary for those interested in applying for vet school.
