When you study secondary education at Butler, you learn teaching from experienced educators, both on campus and in area schools for your real-world experience. You expand your knowledge and complete the first two years of your teaching degree for less cost than at a traditional four-year college. After you receive your associate degree in secondary education, you can transfer seamlessly into a content-specific secondary education bachelor’s degree program.

Butler is proud to be part of Educate the State, a joint public-private partnership designed to make a secondary education degree simple and more affordable for Kansas students.

With K-12 teachers in high demand, Educate the State allows you to save thousands of dollars in tuition while pursuing a teaching degree, earning teaching licenses and impacting the lives of Kansans.

As a result of this partnership, Butler secondary education graduates can transfer directly to one of three private Kansas colleges while keeping their credits and paying a discounted rate of $300 per credit hour.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate from Butler as a Secondary Education major and maintain major upon transfer.
  • Maintain a minimum 2.75 GPA.
  • Transfer as a full-time student (12+ credit hours per semester) to Friends University, Newman University or Southwestern College based on your concentration area.
