Health care laws and regulations are continually evolving. By studying Physician Billing & Coding at Butler, you learn the latest applicable technology. Along with learning medical office terminology, you are exposed to records management, insurance billing, HIPAA regulations, medical contracts and medical ethics. Our curriculum encompasses the latest ICD-10 coding system, the use of electronic health record software, as well as reimbursement policies and procedures. This highly sought after program allows you to earn a two-year degree or a one-year certificate.

In this program, Butler prepares you for the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) national certification exam. This leads to your CPC certification. If you pass this test, you are eligible to work for two years as an apprentice. When you’ve completed your apprenticeship, you can then apply for Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification and exam under the guidelines established by the American Academy of Professional Coders.
