Certified Medication Aide

Play a vital role in protecting the health of seniors.

It's a fact of life and health. The more we age, the more medications we tend to take. That's why, as senior communities spread across the nation, they are being staffed with Certified Medication Aides (CMA) who can safely administer each resident's prescription drug regimen.

Butler's program will prepare you to take the Kansas Nursing Home Medication Aide certification test. Coursework exposes you to correct procedures for administering oral and topical medications, the action of different classes of drugs, and how to identify and report side effects or adverse reactions. In addition to working in small classes with experienced professionals, you'll also get supervised, hands-on experience in long term care clinical settings.

Prerequisites for Medication Aide:

  • Placement score required for reading.
  • Must be an active Certified Nurse Aide and on the Kansas Nurse Aide Registry.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
