Emt training in action

Make a critical difference

Butler’s training program for Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) emphasizes real-world clinical experience in a variety of emergency settings. Butler's 12-credit-hour Emergency Medical Technician course (1 semester) prepares you for certification as an EMT first responder. You’ll learn what it’s like to work with Butler County Sheriff Detectives, and train for rescue operations with Butler County Rescue Squad. You’ll get firsthand exposure to EMS operations in the field with Butler County EMS and Sedgwick County EMS and in area emergency rooms. We’ll teach you critical skills such as wound management, how to immobilize a fractured limb or neck and the use of emergency equipment like defibrillators and airway devices.

Once you're an EMT, you can always come back and boost your level of training with our 20-credit-hour (two semesters/10 credit hours each) Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) certification which usually boosts your pay too.
