Emergency Medical Responder

Getting Started:

Orientation / First Class: Sept 14th - 0900-1200hrs, 2610 W. 6th Ave, El Dorado

Apply: Apply for free admission to Butler CC online at butlercc.edu/apply. After admission you will be assigned an

advisor.

Enroll: FS-104 EMR (5 credit hours). Your advisor will help you enroll in the course for Fall 2024.

Complete: BCC Background check and drug screen using attached form.

Fees collected with tuition:

  • $75 – Lab fee
  • $50 – Platinum EMS Testing
  • $36 – AHA BLS Heartcode
  • $75 – State skills exam fee

These fees are the student’s responsibility:

  • $15 – KS Board of EMS certification fee
  • $50 – KS Board of EMS background check
  • $88 – National Registry written exam fee
  • $70 – BCC background check & drug screen

What will you learn in EMR class?

As an EMR student you will learn to provide basic life support care to ill or injured patients. Some of the skills you will learn are patient assessments on trauma and medical patients, managing wounds and bleeding, immobilizing fractures, performing CPR, using automated external defibrillators, and administering certain medications in the pre-hospital setting.

Course Schedule & Info

The EMR class isn’t just another boring lecture! Delivered in a hybrid format, each week there will be online coursework for the student to complete prior to in-person class on Saturdays. The in-person sessions will be active and dynamic – solidifying knowledge through hands-on scenarios and thought-provoking exercises.

The in-person sessions will be conducted on Saturdays from 9am-noon at the Fire & EMS Education building at 2610 W. 6th Ave in El Dorado. Saturday classes will run from September 14th to December 13th.

This course is challenging but rewarding and fun!
