EMT Scholarship
Devin Renee‘ Burress passed away June 5, 2009 as a passenger in a motor vehicle accident. She was a 16 year old senior at Augusta High School. Devin was born in El Dorado, Kansas on June 10, 1992, the daughter of James "Jeb" Eldon and LeeAnne (Dennett) Burress. Devin‘s desire was to help people in their time of need.
This memorial scholarship is to continue her good work through those who have that same desire. Devin, having a big heart and smile, was one to always put others before her. She loved to make people laugh no matter the situation or how she felt. Known as a founder of misfits and underdogs who were maybe in bad family situations or just not considered popular, she would go out of her way to help them and make them feel better about themselves and a true friend until the end. In her short life she had been involved in instrumental music, sports, drama and other activities along with a job at Pizza Hut.
Devin‘s goal was to become a Certified Nurse Aid her senior year of high school, then obtain her Associate of Science degree as a Paramedic like her Dad. Simply put, Devin was and still is a beloved daughter, sister, friend and a true Angel to all who knew her.
