Early College Fire Science Academy

The Early College Fire Science Academy (ECFSA) will propel you into a public safety career. The ECFSA will allow high school seniors to earn their Haz Mat and Fire 1 certifications in a consolidated one year program.

  • High School Seniors only
  • Options to earn certifications before graduating high school
  • Exposure to professionals, instructors, and leaders
  • Opportunity to work with local Fire Departments though out the year
  • GUARANTEED an interview for the Butler Community College Fire Science Residency Program

Most ECFSA College credit hours will qualify for the Technical Education Tuition Waiver (Excel in CTE) subsidizing tuition costs.

“If a student applied to my agency with these credentials and a proper attitude, I would not hire them as a trainee, I would hire them at a higher level of responsibility and pay scale and put them to work,” said Chris Davis, Director of Butler County Emergency Communications.

“An applicant that has the broad exposure and skill set available through a program like this would definitely get my attention over others,” said Chief Steve Moody, El Dorado Fire Department.
