Butler Students Win Kansas Association of Broadcasters Production Awards
Butler Mass Communications program was recognized for excellence in radio and television production
Eleven students in the Butler Mass Communications program were recognized for excellence in radio and television production by the Kansas Association of Broadcasters with a combined 15 awards. The awards were presented during a special luncheon during the KAB’s Student Workshop held on the K-State campus April 3rd.
“I am very pleased with the participation of our students,” said Keith West, Ph.D. Professor of Mass Communications. “The performance of our students at competitions like this is another reason why professionals specifically request Butler students and graduates for their companies.”
Since the competition began in 1998, Butler broadcasters have earned 236 awards. This is more than any other 2-year broadcast program in Kansas; students from both 2-year and 4-year program compete against each other in undergraduate and intern categories.
“It’s great to also see Butler graduates who have transferred to 4-year institutions do well. Many credit their experience at Butler for success at Kansas universities,” West said. “The Butler Mass Communications program is considered by professionals as providing the best practical experience in broadcasting, print, and sports media in the state.”
