Butler Community College’s Theatre Department is performing “A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court,” by Jeffrey Hatcher. This play is based on the 1889 novel by American humorist and writer Mark Twain. This classic work is a satirical story of mystery, suspense and action.
Unexpectedly transported back to the time of legendary King Arthur, Queen Guinevere, Lancelot, Morgan La Fey and all of the Knights of the Round Table and their ladies, Hank Morgan of Hartford, Connecticut astonishes the Middle Ages with modern technology and pop culture. These tricks from the future initially advance and improve King Arthur’s Court, but society ultimately struggles to evolve 1,300 years into the future. Mark Twain’s satirical romp exposes the foibles and fortes of both ages.
Butler’s production of “A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court,” is directed by theatre professor Bob Peterson. The Technical Director and Lighting Designer of the production is associate professor of theatre, Bernie Wonsettler. The show takes place at 7:30 p.m. September 27, 28 and 29 and 2:00 p.m. September 29.
