Book Reading of Late Butler Instructor’s Poetry
Butler Community College is hosting a reading from late Butler Instructor's poetry book
Butler Community College is hosting a book reading of Michael Cissell’s poetry book, “The Cutting Songs of the Butcher Son.” Cissell tragically died on Aug. 16 from a sudden heart attack after his morning run. This reading is attributed to Cissell’s life and the recent publication of his collection of poems in August. The book consists of 27 of his original poems.
The event is being spearheaded by John Jenkinson, Professor of English. The reading of Cissell’s book is from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 25 in the L.W. Nixon Library on the Butler of El Dorado campus. The reading is free and open to the public. Books will be available for purchase at this event. All of the staff and faculty at Butler Community College are terribly saddened by the loss of their treasured colleague and want to pay tribute to his creativity and honor him.
