Butler Dance Department Presents “Remember My Name”
Butler Community College Dance Department will present “Remember My Name,” a performance that is the culmination of a semester’s worth of dance classes.
It will feature dance students in a program showcasing tap, jazz, modern, and ballet styles.
The shows will be on Friday, April 24, and Saturday, April 25 at 7:30 p.m. and a matinee performance Saturday, April 25 at 2 p.m. in the College Theatre on the El Dorado campus.
The company features 15 dance scholarship recipients (sorted by hometown):
Wichita: Alexis Escalante, Ellen Frey, Abbie Jaso and Tina Nguyen
Augusta: Layne Gilliand and Ashley Rieschick
Clearwater: Kenzie Gannaway and Shelby Johnson
Belle Plaine: Brittney Potter
Conway Springs: Amber Gibbs
El Dorado: Brooklyn Hamilton
Oakley: Hayley Ribordy
Park City: Katelyn Johnson
Secena: Carrie Miller
Valley Center: Carrie Bright
The program will also feature more than 40 other students enrolled in spring dance classes.
Faculty choreographers are Kristine Anderson, associate professor of dance, and Valerie Lippoldt Mack, professor of music. Student choreographers are Brooklyn Hamilton, Ashley Rieschick, Ellen Fry and Carrie Bright. Bernie Wonsetler, associate professor of theatre, is the lighting designer.
“This concert is a joyous expression of the students’ creativity and passion for dance,” said lead instructor Kristine Anderson.
The Butler Fine Arts Box Office is open 1-5 pm Monday-Friday. Reservations can be made by calling 316.322.3262 or online. Tickets are $5 for adults and $2 for children and senior citizens.
