Life Enrichment Hosts Speaker on Modern Christmas History & Vocalist Rusty Rierson
Anthony Horsch will present on the Christmas culture and Rusty Rierson will perform music
Butler Community College’s Life Enrichment will host Anthony Horsch and Rusty Rierson on Tuesday, Dec. 7 at 9 a.m.
Horsch, director of education and interpretation at Cowtown, will present “Christmas: Modern Traditions, Victorian Roots.” Christmas is the most celebrated of all holidays and yet in the 1840s it barely received a mention in the newspapers. How our culture celebrates this festive season reflects the intentional actions of the Victorians. Come explore the invention of our modern Christmas.
Rierson, a recording artist from Leon, Kansas, will perform a variety of country, rock and holiday songs.
Life Enrichment meets on the first Tuesday morning of the month during the school year. Area adults enjoy high-quality speakers and performers, along with a light breakfast and coffee during each regular meeting. Meetings take place in the Clifford/Stone Community Room at the Hubbard Welcome Center on the El Dorado campus. Meetings are open to everyone and there is no charge to attend. Those who attend regularly are encouraged to register so they receive monthly newsletters announcing the programs. New members are always welcome.
