2022 Butler County Spelling Bee Champion named
Nathan Rosen is Butler County Spelling Bee Champion
The 14th annual Butler County Spelling Bee was held in person this year at Butler Community College on Friday, Feb. 11. This year there were 26 contestants from Butler County elementary and middle schools (3rd through 8th grade) competing against each other.
The Butler County champion is Nathan Rosen from Andover Middle School with the winning word “moorage.” The first runner-up is Yasmina Mortada from Meadowlark Elementary School in Andover, and the second runner-up is Roshaan Rahman from Cottonwood Elementary in Andover.
The Butler County Spelling Bee is conducted annually by Butler Community College.
Rosen, the Butler County champion, will move on to the Sunflower State Spelling Bee (the state bee) on Saturday, March 26, at Newman University in Wichita. The first runner-up will be invited to the state bee if the champion is unable to attend. The Sunflower State Spelling Bee, hosted by the Kansas Press Association, qualifies the winner for participation in the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
