Butler Community College’s Life Enrichment will host Calla Edwards and Bob Peterson on Tuesday, March 1 at 9 a.m.
Edwards, a horticulture agent with the Butler County Extension office, will talk about the approaching gardening season. Growing a bountiful harvest involves more than just planting the seeds in the ground, early spring is the time to start planning and preparing for the gardening season. Learn some tips and tricks to starting your gardening season off to a great start.
Peterson, professor of theatre and speech at Butler Community College, will speak on the “Alvin” series he created, which started in 2002 with a show called “Totally Frank.” The shows have been performed over the years to almost 12,500 children. “Alvin” and his buddy “Frank” are students at Digby Prep School, but in some shows “Alvin” has traveled to Hollywood, out west, and into space. Bob is a graduate of Emporia State University. He was named a Kansas Master Teacher in 2006 and was the recipient of the Mary Jane Teall Outstanding Theatre Educator in 2017. He has been at Butler for 40 years.
Life Enrichment meets on the first Tuesday morning of the month during the school year. Area adults enjoy high-quality speakers and performers, along with a light breakfast and coffee during each regular meeting. Meetings take place in the Clifford/Stone Community Room at the Hubbard Welcome Center on the El Dorado campus. Meetings are open to everyone and there is no charge to attend. Those who attend regularly are encouraged to register so they receive monthly newsletters announcing the programs. New members are always welcome.
