EL DORADO, Kan. – Janet Schueller has been named the new associate dean of Health, Education and Public Services at Butler Community College.

Born and raised in Southeast Kansas, Schueller graduated from Creighton University in 1992 with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Nine years later she earned her Masters degree of science in Community Health and Public Health Nursing from New Mexico State University. After graduating she worked at Memorial Medical Centre in Las Cruses, NM in various positions. She worked as Director of Pediatrics, Med-Surg and Inpatient, and Administrator on Duty.

In 2004 Schueller joined Butler as a nursing professor. Combining her experience and educational background as a certified nurse educator, some accomplishments she has had a part in with other faculty include working with KU to build partnerships to promote nursing education and working collaboratively to build a model to promote student success. She also helped to lead curriculum change in the nursing department, and she is a contributing author for the book, Developing Clinical Judgment for Professional Nursing, and the Next-Generation NCLEX-RN Exam by Donna D. Ignatavicius (2020).

Schueller’s goals moving forward as a new associate dean are expanding satellite programs in nursing education and promoting student success.

“Janet brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to our Nursing Program. She has served at Butler for almost 20 years in various roles, from instructor to Nursing Curriculum Chair and Interim Associate Dean,” said Julio Guerrero, Butler Community College Dean of Health, Education and Public Service. “Her experience in healthcare, her knowledge of all Nursing policies and procedures, and the relationships she has built at Butler over the years made her the perfect candidate to serve as our Nurse Administrator.”
