Rusty Eck Ford Donates Engines, Tools to Butler's Automotive Technology Program
Ten years of partnership with Rusty Eck Ford result in another generous donation for students
Written by: Caleb Sanderson
Rusty Eck Ford donated four used 3.7 L Mustang V6 engines and six different types of tools to assist student learning in Butler Community College’s Automotive Technology program. Donated tools include two Milwaukee Impact Kits, two Gear Wrench sets, three K Tool International Screwdriver Sets and more.
The donation will be of great use to the students in the Auto Tech certificate and degree program. “It gives the students the opportunity to see new technologies. Students [who] don’t have enough money for tool sets have the opportunity to utilize [these] tools to make their lives easier,” Mark Jaye, Automotive Technology Lead Instructor, said.
Students will learn to tear an engine apart, manually diagnose problems and put the engine back together, all while using proper tools.
“I have a good working relationship with Ford,” Jaye said. This donation is one of several the department has received from Rusty Eck Ford and Ford Motor Company, including two vehicles and a diesel engine. Rusty Eck Ford is an active Advisory Board member and pays student interns well over minimum wage in an “earn while you learn” structure.
“We are grateful for any and all donations that come our way,” Jaye expressed. “Ford has been a fantastic sponsor. Other manufacturers have not been as actively involved in our program as Ford has, and my students and I want to thank them for all they do.”
