"Dreaming Canopy” runs through October 27.

Towanda’s Meghan Miller is the newest featured artist at Butler Community College’s Erman B. White Gallery of Art, with a new exhibition titled “Dreaming Canopy.”

“Dreaming Canopy” is made from over 40 tie dyed sheets and tablecloths suspended from the ceiling with thin orange rope, billowing overhead in many-colored swirls and waves.

Butler assistant art professor Kevin Kelly calls Miller a staple in the Kansas art community, describing her work as “collaborative and installation-based.” He says Miller “creates immersive environments that activate spaces in dynamic ways and break down the barriers between viewer and artwork in unconventional ways.”

Miller says visitors to the exhibit are welcome to move the incorporated pillows around the floor and lay under the canopy to daydream if they so choose. “I hope the gallery can be a place for students and other visitors to spend time and relax,” she said.

Mike Miller assisted with the installation, and Mason Talbott served as lighting designer. More of Meghan’s work can be found at meghansuzonmiller.com.
