Butler Community College Vocal Music Presents “Evolution of Emotion!”
New ensemble, Gold Standard, debuts; 40 students to perform with Wichita Symphony.

Face the music as an audience member in Butler Community College’s Vocal Music Concert “Evolution of Emotion!” Performances take place in the 700 building on the El Dorado campus from Thursday, October 10 through Saturday, October 12th at 7 pm, with an additional showing on Saturday at 2 pm.
Student performances include Concert Choir, Chambers Singers, A Capella, Butler Headliners and a new ensemble called Gold Standard. With nearly 150 students participating in the concert, the show is sure to remain on a high note.
Audience members can expect an expansive event, starting with Concert Choir’s excerpt of “War Horse,” directed by Matt Udland and accompanied by Amanda Pfenninger. One hundred and twenty students will participate in this, with 40 of these students performing with the Wichita Symphony in a separate concert at Century II on Sunday, October 27.
Chamber Singers, conducted by Chad Ingram and accompanied by Amanda Pfenninger, will lead the audience on a lyrical journey of love, hope, false love and judgement.
A Cappella will share a selection they are preparing for an international collegiate competition in the spring. Matt Udland will direct A Cappella during this harmonious sneak peek for next semester’s competition.
For the first time ever, 32 tenor and bass vocalists will grace the Butler stage in a new ensemble called the Gold Standard. These talented student will share happiness, longing and dedication through their vocals.
The concert will conclude with a striking performance from Butler Headliners, under the direction of Valerie Mack and assisted by Chad Ingram. Audience members will be treated to high energy singing and dancing, featuring pieces from Michael Jackson, Legally Blonde, Huey Lewis, and the Jersey Boys. After an intensive visit earlier this semester from Choreographers Stevie Mack Furlong, current Radio City Rockettes, and Butler Vocal Music alum Madison Underkofler from Music Theatre of Wichita, the Headliners are sure to bring the dance magic.
