Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) are in the business of saving lives. When an accident happens, a natural disaster occurs or someone is the victim of a violent crime, EMTs are the first responders who deliver vital care in the critical minutes before the patient arrives at the hospital.
In our EMT Certification program you’ll master critical skills such as wound management, how to immobilize a fractured limb or neck and the use of emergency equipment like defibrillators and airway devices.
Positions in the field are growing at more than twice the national average for all occupations. Many EMTs use their training and experience to go on to get further education and become paramedics, physician’s assistants or nurses.
Get started on an exciting, vitally important career with EMT training.
Once you're an EMT, you can come back and boost your level of training with our two semester Advanced EMT certificate. This training usually boosts your pay and responsibilities.

Devin Reneé Burress passed away June 5, 2009 as a passenger in a motor vehicle accident. She was a 16-year-old senior at Augusta High School. Devin was born in El Dorado, Kansas on June 10, 1992, the daughter of James "Jeb" Eldon and LeeAnne (Dennett) Burress. Devin‘s desire was to help people in their time of need.
This memorial scholarship is to continue her good work through those who have that same desire. Devin, having a big heart and smile, was one to always put others before her. She loved to make people laugh no matter the situation or how she felt. Known as a founder of misfits and underdogs who were maybe in bad family situations or just not considered popular, she would go out of her way to help them and make them feel better about themselves and a true friend until the end. In her short life, she had been involved in instrumental music, sports, drama and other activities, along with a job at Pizza Hut.
Devin’s goal was to become a Certified Nurse Aid her senior year of high school, then obtain her Associate of Science degree as a Paramedic like her dad. Simply put, Devin was and still is a beloved daughter, sister, friend and a true angel to all who knew her.
