Please note the following to understand how you can become a certified coder:
You must pass the national certification exam and have two years of coding experience. If you successfully pass the certification exam, but have not met the required two years of coding work experience, you will be awarded the apprentice certification.
After two years of validated work experience in medical coding, full certification is awarded and the apprentice designation is removed.

When you successfully complete a medical coding/physician coding degree from Butler, you’re halfway to a Wichita State University Health Management bachelor’s degree. Our WSU partnership allows you to transfer seamlessly.
