If you are eager to meet the growing need for certified coders in the medical field, we are the program for you. This industry seeks ethical, attentive and independent students. We're designed to guide your professionalism to thrive.

Learn the fundamentals of ICD-10-CM, CPT and HCPCS II coding. You study the regulatory, compliance and ethical matters that prepare you for a medical coding career.

Our goal is to prepare you for the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) national certification exam and ultimately your CPC certification in accordance with the American Academy of Professional Coders.

    Are you hoping to take the CPC exam to become a Certified Professional Coder Apprentice (CPC-A)? Learn about health information, ethical issues and medical coding. You'll be prepared to take the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) national certification exam. Let us help you start in the industry!

    Please note the following to understand how you can become a certified coder:

    You must pass the national certification exam and have two years of coding experience. If you successfully pass the certification exam, but have not met the required two years of coding work experience, you will be awarded the apprentice certification. 

    After two years of validated work experience in medical coding, full certification is awarded and the apprentice designation is removed.

    Physician Coding Certification Information

    Do you have a strong professional medical background? In one semester, you could add another professional mark to your résumé. We'll help you get started!

    Prior approval is required. Students who possess any of the following may be eligible:

    • At least one year of verified coding experience.
    • Completion of or currently enrolled in a relevant baccalaureate or post-baccalaureate program.
    • Licensure in a medical field such as CNA, CMA, LPN or RN.
