This program is a companion to our Criminal Justice degree for the fast track to becoming an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). You'll be ready to transfer into a Criminal Justice bachelor's degree. We prepare you for an impactful career as a first responder or law enforcement officer.

First Responders and Officers Train Here

As an EMT, no shift is the same. Our hands-on program helps you think on your feet as a first responder with groundwork for a career in law enforcement.  

Navigate real world, high stress situations with critical thinking. You'll be able to identify dangerous encounters and handle legal proceedings and gang investigations. 

Your Future as a Public Safety Officer

We help you feel confident to assess situations and use training to prevent, intervene and suppress crime. You practice treatment and aftercare strategies to help your community.  

You study criminology, criminal investigation, criminal and constitutional law. Interact with industry professionals in federal and regional law enforcement groups, such as FEMA, with our training workshops and internships. 

A public safety degree allows you to enter the workforce immediately as an EMT.

University Transfer and Future Career Options

Our program is designed to introduce you to the fundamentals of a Public Safety career. Once you earn your associate degree, you have transfer options to build on your Butler experience.  

Your Public Safety education can lead you to a future in careers like:
