Butler Instrumental Music to Perform Annual “Celebration of Freedom” Concert

Press Release

The Concert Band and Jazz Ensemble of Butler Community College will once again contribute to El Dorado’s Celebration of Freedom observance with a concert on Sunday, November 9 at 7 p.m. in the Clifford Stone room of the R.D. Hubbard Welcome Center.

“The Butler Bands have been involved in the El Dorado Celebration of Freedom for many years,” Director Brett Martinez said. “It is a great opportunity for us to utilize our talents to serve our local community and honor our veterans.”

Both bands will contribute to a patriotic atmosphere during the concert, with music selections designed to praise the nation’s veterans and achievements.

The Concert Band will play traditional patriotic favorites like “The Star-Spangled Banner,” “America the Beautiful,” and an Armed Forces Marches medley. They will also perform pieces to commend our aviation history such as “Where Never Lark or Eagle Flew.” To honor the veteran attendees, the band will play “Arlington (Where Giants Lie Sleeping).”

Audience members will be treated to music by proclaimed American composers to further contribute to the patriotic environment of the concert.

“This event is also a wonderful chance to prepare and perform patriotic standards and American music for our local community and patrons.” Martinez noted.

Jazz Band students are arranged by hometown below, followed by a list of music selections to be performed during the concert.
