To ensure you start in the right math course, all students admitted to Butler must have a valid math placement score before enrolling.
We accept the following test scores:
MPP is Butler’s own math diagnostic placement test. If you hope to transfer to a four-year institution, you will likely need to take one of three Kansas Math Pathways courses to complete a Butler associate degree: College Algebra, Applied Statistics or Contemporary Math. The MPP is given to students to determine if you're ready for one of these courses in the traditional credit hour format or if you should take the corequisite option. The corequisite option offers additional time for instruction and more learning content.
The MPP is a computer test, and most students take an average of 90 minutes to complete.
By taking a math placement test, you are setting yourself up for success and making sure that your college journey starts on the right path.
To determine your next steps, connect with an advisor who can review your scores, transcripts and available placement options.
A little preparation can go a long way! Butler offers a variety of resources to help you review key concepts, build confidence, and improve your placement — potentially saving you time and money on extra courses. Get started with study guides, practice test,s and tutoring support to ensure you're ready on test day!
ACCUPLACER helps students understand their current skill levels and provides Learning Resources to help them address skill gaps. ACCUPLACER scores let students know where they stand academically, which makes it easier for them to plan a successful path toward a college degree or workforce readiness.
The more you prepare, the smoother your path will be to achieve your educational and career goals.
