Learn to Help Them Learn

With a play-based approach, you learn to implement developmentally appropriate activities. You observe, document and conduct assessments to support development. 

Learn industry strategies as you gain confidence in the field. With supervised practicums in area child care programs, you practice just as you would work in the workforce.

You create a professional portfolio to ensure your readiness to enter the early childhood workforce, from the classroom to administration and support staff roles.

Our program is designed to introduce you to the fundamentals of an Early Childhood Education career. Once you earn your associate degree, you have transfer options to build on your Butler experience.

      Ready to get started in the field? You can earn your ECE certificate in two semesters. Learn creative activities, child development and relationship building with kids and families. If you’re looking to take your daycare to the next level or become a childcare center administrator, our advanced certificate is designed specifically for the business side of childcare.

      This stackable pathway teaches you accounting with QuickBooks and other childcare business essentials like how to create a family handbook, purchase business insurance and modify contracts. View the Early Childhood Business Administration tab to learn more about this additional business-focused certificate.

      Learn to start your own childcare business with strong financial and early childhood education knowledge. You take Early Childhood Education and Business Administration courses. You can add more early childhood hours and general education requirements to this certificate to complete an associate degree. 

      You also learn the following:

      • Implement the principles of administration and organization of childcare programs.
      • Build technology literacy skills.
      • Learn the basic issues, strategies and concepts involved in starting and managing a small business.
      • Learn about using commercial accounting software to apply principles and procedures of accrual accounting.
