In our program, you learn learn the fundamentals of both science and animal studies to prepare you for university transfer. Study livestock nutrition, livestock management and agribusiness to understand animals better. You'll learn how to manage large animals and businesses related to them.

Discover how biology and chemistry affect bodies, both human and animal. Discover nutrition and biological processes, such as metabolism. You also learn about the major classes of biological molecules, genetics and diseases.

Experience as a Lab Assistant

Interested in more hands-on experience to add to your future vet school application? You can work as a student lab assistant to explore more biology concepts and work with innovative lab equipment.

University Transfer and Future Career Options

Our program is designed to introduce you to the fundamentals of a Veterinarian career before you apply to vet school in the future. Once you earn your associate degree, you have transfer options to build on your Butler experience.  

Your Pre-Veterinarian education can lead you to a future in careers like:

    Get Paid to Gain Experience

    If science experiments and lab work are your comfort zone, you may enjoy working as a student lab assistant. You can earn money and gain valuable experience at the same time. When you become a lab assistant, you learn to use petri dishes to grow microbes, incubate specimens and care for modern lab equipment. We are flexible with your class schedule and offer positions for the El Dorado campus. Please note available positions fill quickly.
