More than $170,000 in scholarship support has been offered to graduating seniors from Butler County high schools in 2026, helping local students pursue their educational goals at Butler Community College.
The total includes both Butler Foundation scholarships made possible through donor support, and academic scholarships awarded by the college to recognize student achievement and potential.
Students from Augusta, El Dorado, Andover, Circle, Douglass, Rose Hill, Bluestem, Remington, and Flint Hills high schools all were awarded scholarships as they prepare to begin their college careers.
Kyla Gaston, scholarship coordinator for the Butler Community College Foundation, attended local award ceremonies throughout the spring to recognize recipients and celebrate their achievements alongside family members, teachers, and community supporters.
“At its core, this is about community,” said Gaston. “These scholarships open doors for students across Butler County and support them as they take their next step. It was incredibly special to see these students recognized right in their own schools.”
Butler President Dr. Tamara Daniel said the scholarships reflect the college's commitment to expanding educational opportunity.
“Each of these scholarships represents an investment in a local student's future,” said Daniel.
“Whether awarded through donor support or academic achievement, these scholarships create opportunities for students from communities throughout Butler County, and we are excited to welcome them to Butler Community College.”
